Sur La Rue: Naseya

Name: Naseya

Location: Washington, DC

What culture most influences your style: My style isn’t influenced by one particular culture. I’m mostly influenced by runway trends that can be translated into everyday pieces. I wear classic, tailored looks that can be versatile for work or play. My style has evolved tremendously from my tomboy days in middle school. As my personal style continues to develop I would like to experiment more with colors and patterns and add investment pieces and bold accessories.

Ideal Shopping Experience (vintage, second hand, boutique, shopping mall, bazaar etc): I absolutely love discovering new boutiques and shops wherever I go. There’s a thrill element to not knowing what you may find. Vintage shopping and thrifting seems to be the “in” thing at the moment, but its nothing new to me. Growing up in the midwest my mom was a regular seller and customer at high end consignment shops. I prefer consignment shops over thrift stores so I try find consignment shops in great neighborhoods for designer pieces at a fraction of the retail cost. I also do mall shopping for trendy pieces (H&M, Zara, Forever21, J.Crew) Occasionally I get lucky browsing the Rent the Runway section in TJ Maxx :)

I had the opportunity to meet the unique and colorful Joy Adaeze, fashion blogger and stylist, during NYFW 2012. I have my own photos of her, but I just adore this one posted on her site from street photographer Edward Ofori!
I’ll be sharing more of her looks this week.
