Check out this interesting article in the New York Times about the ever evolving French language.

Is language solely a communication tool or does it carry a cultural, historical and/or personal significance to you? Does it bother you when non-native speakers attempt to speak your language or do you embrace their effort?

Today was my first tandem language lesson where I learned Guānhuà, or Mandarin. I spent my lunch break with a student from Taiwan who taught me introductory Mandarin in exchange for Italian lessons.

I honestly did not have much faith in my progress before starting, but soon realized the grammar and vocabulary were easy, it’s just the pronunciation that can be challenging.

If you are interested in learning Mandarin or any other foreign language now is the opportunity to do so. There’s a plethora of free online resources, as well as foreign films, movies and free language exchanges such as tandems.

再见!
